Check Driving Records At Time of Hiring If driving is going to be part of their work, it’s best to confirm a potential employee is authorized to drive before you hire them. Check that they have a valid driver’s licence and that it is appropriate for the vehicle(s) you will ask them to drive.
If you are unsure what type of driver’s licence is required, go to the page. Verify they do not have a driving suspension or prohibition.
Access a copy of their Driver’s Abstract. There are a few ways to accomplish this. Drivers can, and have them emailed to two addresses (for example, themselves and an employer).
Drivers can phone 1-800-663-3051 (toll free) or 604-661-2233 to request their records be sent (email, fax or mail) to an address of their choice. Make in-person requests at any ICBC office. Employers may request one abstract per year per employee for free. To do that, the employer must complete a and mail or fax it to ICBC. Find out more. Look through each abstract. How many violations and penalty points have been issued to the driver over the last five years?
Have any suspensions or prohibitions been enforced against the driver? Is there evidence of recent at-fault crashes? Past violations aren’t necessarily predictors of future performance, but driving records have valuable information employers should know. They should cause employers to have conversations with employees, and potential employees, about driving behaviours and the driving responsibilities they might undertake for your organization. Get a driver abstract as part of a job application. Applicant and employers can request a 3-year driver record for the purpose of checking the applicant's driving history. This is a snapshot of the last 3 years of the applicant's driving record. It provides information about accidents, tickets, suspensions, demerit points and suspensions.
This is the most frequently request type, and can either be uncertified or certified (stamped by the Ministry of Transportation). The uncertified version is usually sufficient for employment purposes. 3-year abstracts also shows all of the information present on the driver's licence and the licence status. Obtain an abstract for your insurance provider. When you are applying for or updating your car insurance, your insurance provider may request either a driver's licence history, a 5-year uncertified driver's record, or a complete driver's record. The driver's licence history and 5-year record include G1, G2, and G dates (if appropriate), previous addresses, replacements, and renewals.
A version without the previous addresses is also available. The driver's licence history is available only to the driver, law enforcement and certain government agencies. The complete driver's record includes more detail about violations, tickets, suspensions, and other infractions. Become qualified to drive outside of Ontario. You may need several different documents to apply to drive outside of Ontario. For example, you may need a 5-year certified driver's record. It contains Criminal Code of Canada convictions, suspensions and reinstatements for the past 5 years, Highway Traffic Act convictions and suspensions for the past 3 years, and demerit point information for the past 3 years.
It is available only to the driver or law enforcement. You may also need a driver confirmation letter, which shows the date your licence was issued, your licence expiry date, and infractions/suspensions. This letter is also used if you are moving to another province.

The 1st time i took defensive driving they said even in this position, you should ask to do the class and hope to get lucky. They might let u. Its been working ever since. Those records didnt even show any safety courses completed because they were expunged.
But this time, i printed my record, and theres 2 classes on there. 1 within a year ago. I copied a fake with no classes on it. Im about to send it in but then again im about to move and if this is a felony then i guess thatd make me a fugitive on the run or somthing. Any advice people? Which one should i send in?.
